Welcome to Wren Class

In our class we have Foundation Stage 1 children who are aged 3 and 4 years old.  Some of our children attend AM or PM places and other children attend the setting for 30 hours per week.  We also have Pre FS1 children too.  These children join our class throughout the year as they turn 3 years old.

Our aim in the Foundation Stage is to have an immersive environment which the children can enjoy, learn and achieve. The children’s interests are important to us and we try and plan these into every opportunity of learning and topic planning.

Each day we provide learning opportunities for communication and language, maths and phonics as well as exploring expressive arts and knowledge of the world.  We also focus on supporting the children’s speech and language development, introducing and extending vocabulary.  All activities are focused around hands on education where children are equipped to deepening their learning by questioning their experiences. We encourage children to think about their learning at all times, explaining their understanding.

The most important thing we want is children to enjoy their time in school and make special memories.

PE is on a Wednesday and children should come to school in their PE kit.

Welly Wednesday

Welly Wednesday is a session in which the children learn about nature and the seasons. The children will explore the outdoor environment with their grown-ups and together they will have the opportunity to take part in treasure hunts, crafts, build shelters, collect sticks and leaves, share stories and songs.

On a Wednesday the teachers and children dress in their outdoor clothes and bring their wellies ready to explore the great outdoors. This is an hour of fun in the outdoor environment. If you are a 30 hours child you will access Welly Wednesday twice throughout the day.

These sessions ensure that the children get the opportunity to experience the outdoors, seeing wildlife and taking in the fresh air which is very important for them to experience.
