  • Girls Y5/6 Football Tournament - Tuesday 15th October

Our Year 6 girls (and not forgetting Lily – our star Barnsley Academy player in Y5) put on a very spirited performance against 4 different talented girls teams. The girls played terrifically as a team and all played their part in the matches. Overall, they did really well drawing two of the matches and losing the other two by only one goal. A big thanks must also be given to the parents who supported the girls brilliantly. Autumn: “I was really proud to take a free kick – I loved getting muddy too!” Kayla: “I had mixed feelings of nerves and excitement during the match. When I had the ball I felt unstoppable!

  • Girls Y3/4 Football Tournament - Friday 11th October

On Friday 11th October 9 girls from Year 3 and 4 took part in a football tournament at Rawmarsh school. The girls represented the school brilliantly, showing amazing attitudes and putting in 100% effort. The team managed to win 3 out of their 4 games, coming second in the tournament and progressing through to the next round. Lola in goal was often quite lonely as attacks from Ellie and Amelia were keeping our scores so high! All of the girls played really well and they showed a real sense of teamwork. Mia - "I was feeling nervous about playing against other schools but I'm really glad I took part. It was really fun!" Lily - "I enjoyed cheering on the team when I was a sub. It was great to look at how everyone else was playing so I could give them feedback at half time"

  • Y5/6 Football Tournament - Monday 14th October

Our Y6 boys football team had their first competition of the year on Monday and although the rain tried to dampen the mood, the boys remained in high spirits. The team cooperated and were responsible for selecting the starting line-up. All the children showed tremendous teamwork and were fantastic representatives for our school. Teams were split into two leagues and the winners from each went through to the finals. There was fierce competition from all participating teams and our Y6 boys won 2, drew 1 and lost 1. Unfortunately, we came second in the group so didn’t qualify for the next round, but the boys congratulated the winners and left with their heads held high. All the children involved displayed skill, resilience and wonderful sportsmanship and should be proud of their performance. George - “I felt we did really well and were unlucky to not get through to the next round”. K – “I felt happy but a bit nervous too. It was really cold and muddy but a lot of fun!”
